Who are the 'Instructors'?

First and foremost they are experienced cyclists who's aim is to help more people ride bikes safely.

Instructors for all courses are...

  • qualified National Standard intructors
  • fully insured (min 10m public liability)
  • first aid qualified
  • Enhanced CRB (Police) checked
  • listed with the DfT
  • regular active cyclists with several years of experience
  • regularly undertaking professional refresher training

They have undergone the rigorous national training course at one of the approved national centres and are accredited to instruct to the National Standards.

The Standards have been approved by the...

  • Department for Transport,
  • Department for Health,
  • ROSPA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents),
  • CTC – the UK’s National Cycling Organisation,
  • British Cycling
  • LARSOA (Local Authority Road Safety Officers Association),
    ...and many other bodies.

All accredited National Instructors are regular cyclists with extensive riding experience. Many have undertaken addition skills such as Ride Leadership or Group Cycling and are involved in other cycling promotion and travel activities.

Hampshire Cycle Training is also on the look out for Instructors who wish to help its aims of increasing the levels of safe cycling, and in making cycling fun and enjoyable for all.
